Construction students in our Environment course benefited from a guest lecture by an industry expert in compliance and inspections recently.
The session was delivered by Ahmad Sayadi, a building compliance and inspections professional at Auckland Council.
It covered key topics including Building Warrants of Fitness (BWoF), Homestar certification, and residential building inspections.
Ahmad highlighted the importance of BWoFs in maintaining ongoing safety and regulatory compliance, the role of Homestar in promoting healthier, more energy-efficient homes, and how residential inspections contribute to construction quality and informed property decisions.
The session was highly engaging and provided students with valuable practical insights into how these concepts are applied in New Zealand building practices.
It complemented their academic learning by connecting theoretical knowledge with current industry practices.
