Staff share projects at research forum
The AIC team came together this week for the Study Block 2 Research Forum to learn about the projects their colleagues are working on.
The forum gives staff an opportunity to update their peers on previous and current research as well as future projects. It’s also a chance to discuss each topic and look at opportunities for future collaboration.
About 25 staff attended the forum facilitated by Research Director Farhad Mehdipour who also presented on the opportunities for research funding.
Nishadi Sooriyamudalige from the Construction department presented her PhD research looking at sustainability within the construction industry. Nishadi has future topics planned and is looking at collaboration with other university researchers. She often brings her research into her classroom teaching.
Farhad Mehdipour, Waruni Hewage, and Asanthika Imbulpitiya from the IT department presented on their experience in applying for funding for research.
Farhad outlined why funding is important and then Asanthika and Waruni covered the process they have gone through to obtain funding and their involvement in a funded project.
Funding is often difficult to obtain and so hearing the experience from these researchers will provide support for future funding applications.
