New issue of Rere Āwhio launched
We celebrated the launch of the third edition of Rere Āwhio – Journal of Applied Research & Practice at Otago Polytechnic Auckland International Campus last night.
Rere Āwhio is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published annually by OPAIC, including the research of our staff and students. It covers a wide range of academic research topics.
One of the journal’s founders, Dr Leoni Schmidt, spoke at last night’s event saying the Te Reo name was gifted by Tame Te Rangi, an elder in the Ngāti Whātua iwi.
The name refers to the activeness of applied research and to its movement across disciplines and communities.
Leoni said research activities contribute significantly to making the world a better place through curiosity, care, criticality, and communication.
She said the journal is going from strength to strength and thanked everyone who is working hard to make the journal possible.
Last night we also heard from the editorial team as well as a panel of students and graduates with work published in the latest issue of the journal.
